Ozbuild VJ Sheeting is an excellent interior lining material suitable for Lining timber or metal framed walls and ceilings or relining existing walls and ceilings.

Timber and Metal Framing - All framing should comply with local building regulations and framing work should be carried out by a qualified and licensed tradesman using accurately gauged and adequately seasoned/treated timbers.

Walls
Stud Spacings - Recommended 450mm

Nogging - One row of horizontal nogging is normally enough for 2745mm walls, but extra nogging may be required where sheets join off-stud

Joining - due to the traditional tongue'n'groove joining system off stud joins are no problem - extra nogging may be required as above

1. Adhesive
Ensure the surface to be applied to is free from oil or grease and from dust build-up

Apply a bead of Ozbuild VJ Sheeting adhesive to the studs (and nogging if desired) at the recommended rate of 1 tube per 6m² (this is almost exactly ½ tube per 2440mm long sheet)

2. Fasteners
(A) Nailing (in conjunction with Ozbuild VJ sheeting adhesive)
Standard Nailing - use 40x2.0mm bullet heads or 32/40mm nail gun finishing nails/pins)

(B) Screwing (in conjunction with Ozbuild VJ Sheeting Adhesive) Screwing is recommended when fixing to metal frames but is not required for fixing wall sheeting to timber frames. For best finish it is necessary to countersink screw and rivets in order to prevent raising of the grain at the fixing point. * Use quality screw recommended for use with MDF and your chosen framing material. Screws should be 32mm in length

Ceilings
Ceiling Battens - recommended at spacings not more than 400mm

Apply adhesive as per for walls

For ease of installation it is recommended to tack ceiling sheets in place with finishing nails/pins (fire pins in at opposing angles - otherwise known as a cross-hatching technique and then (to ensure accurate levelling) that the sheets be screwed (countersunk heads) or fixed in place with approx 40mm framing nails.

Nails should be spaced at max 300mm spacings along the battens

Fixing to existing linings
When fixing to existing linings the fasteners should be fixed through the existing lining and into the framework. It is recommended, when fixing to masonry or concrete walls, that metal furring channels or moisture-treated timber battens be used to prevent moisture transfer.

Painting / Finishing
Paints should be used in accordance with manufacturers' guidelines

Recommended sealer:
Low Humidity - Luxury Paints SpeedPrep - Water based Acrylic (approx application = 1Litre/10m²)

Higher Humidity (kitchens, bathrooms, laundries) - Recommended use of an oil-based primer - see paint manufacturers for recommended products

Surfaces should be prepared in accordance with paint manufacturers guidelines - Shortly prior to painting it is recommended to:
1. Brush the surface of the board
2. Use a 'tack cloth' to remove any excess dust/dirt
