vented skylight

Vented or Non-Vented The difference between a vented and non-vented unit is the metal return piece that joins the acrylic dome to the metal flashing and throat piece. For most applications the non-vented unit is most suitable.

The vented unit is most commonly only used in abathroom and kitchen application or where additional venting is required as the vented units let the heat out in winter and bugs in during summer.

Clear or Opal Dome Clear skylights to make a room look larger and to bring the outside in - too see the sky and clouds. Opal domes (also known as opaque or white domes) are used where the maximum amount of light passed in to the room is needed. Most people think that the clear domes offer the most amount of light in to a room but this is not the case. A clear dome will only pass the light through it, so if it is dull outside, it will not pass much light. The opal domes actually absorb the ambient light, so when it is dark outside or when the sun is near the horizon, the dome will still be absorbing light and effectively been seen as 'glowing' in the room, thus being brighter.
